i'm lost.

i don't get atheism.

Like, so what do they believe happens after we die? What about our consciousness? Is it simply turned off like we're forever sleeping without dreams?

Then that means whatever we do on this earth is not worth anything, isn't it? We live, study our asses off, and when we grow up, have kids and whatever, then we die.

Either we're famous, or we're nobodies. whatever it is, you don't need it when your consciousness is gone. "you" don't even exist.

So, why study and live, for that matter?

Yes, you may affect others with what you do, your actions may make the world a better place, but what good does it do? Soon you won't even know those you help even exist.

Your acts of kindness are not acknowledged, except by you, the the multitudes of others out there might just wipe out your minor accomplishments with one careless act.

So. Even if you're famous, even if you have a major effect on this world. What then? You still die. You still will be forgotten in the years to come.

Unless you're a megagenius, like einstein or pascal or newton (hehe i'm EGO), your life has no meaning. You live, you die, without anyone remembering you after a generation or two. Your experiences, your emotions, your life, be it a happy or sad one, a hate-filled one or not, or a peaceful one, will all be lost.

but then again, does ANY atheist out there believe in an afterlife?

okay on to the actual post.

informal capitalization now! yay.
